Before the current GoldVoltron, there was Warflex Gold.
Released for iOS on September 28, 2013, Warflex Gold was a dedicated beat-looping and scratch-practice app developed by Thud Rumble Ltd. Its soundtrack featured 25 original beats by GoldVoltron, turning a portable device into a practice source that DJs could plug into their mixers.
The collaboration began when Yogafrog approached GoldVoltron about collecting his beats for an app that DJs, B-boys and MCs could use. GoldVoltron assembled and submitted the music; Thud Rumble built the application. That story was documented in an October 17, 2013 ArtistWorks interview.
Warflex Gold belonged to the earlier era of mobile scratch tools, years before today’s GoldVoltron Beat Library and Pattern Engine. This page preserves its story rather than presenting an old app as a current product.
Built for practice, not decoration.
The preserved App Store description documents four core ideas behind the original Warflex Gold.
25 original beats
A collection of GoldVoltron instrumental beats intended for uninterrupted scratch sessions.
Continuous practice
Uninterrupted beat playback aimed at sustained practice rather than stopping to restart a track.
Pitch ±50%
Variable playback speed let DJs practice at slower or faster tempos.
Speed Booster
The Qbert Skratch University training feature increased speed by 1% every 20 seconds.
An early chapter. A continuing idea.
GoldVoltron at QSU
GoldVoltron began sharing beats and scratch material with the Qbert Skratch University community.
Warflex Gold launches

The practice continues
The current GoldVoltron Beat Library and Pattern Engine carry the same interest in original beats and purposeful practice into a modern format.
Original sources, still accessible.
This archive is based on contemporary writing and a preserved App Store listing. No replacement images are presented as original app screenshots.
Archival notice: Warflex Gold is no longer offered through the App Store according to the preserved listing. This is a historical record, not an app download or an endorsement of continued compatibility.
The tools change. The purpose remains.
Original beats, scratch practice, and a desire to make both easier to access continue to shape GoldVoltron today.

GoldVoltron.com is where I share the things I've spent years working on — my beats, scratch tools, and ideas.
I wanted a place where DJs could find something useful, practice, and maybe learn something along the way.
I still work on the site because I use these tools myself, and there's always something I want to improve.
